Magdaléna Trčková from Lípa

Women in noble society had very few opportunities to build a career or gain influence. Their place was traditionally elsewhere. However, history reveals the stories of those who ruled their estates with a firm and decisive hand, significantly contributing to their expansion and prosperity.

One such woman was Magdalena Trčková of Lípa, née Lobkowicz. She first fought for the inheritance of her uncle Jiří and later, from the early 17th century, took care of the Trčka family estates. She was particularly active after the Battle of White Mountain when large-scale confiscations of property took place, an opportunity that the energetic Magdalena skillfully seized.
